Beer in soap?! Why yes, and you don't have to worry about smelling like it (all of the alcohol is evaporated in my soap making process) ! Since beer is made primarily with skin-loving hops, the benefits of this herb are carried through into the soap. While we know that ingesting hops relaxes us, did you know that it helps relax and soften your skin too? Hops contains polyphenols thought to account for its antibacterial and preservative effects and it also contains skin-softening amino acids. 

This listing is for one of each of my four beer soaps: Honey Ale, Pumpkin Lager, Oatmeal Stout and Raspberry Porter. I use a range of beers to make each from Stouts to Lagers. The beers themselves add to the coloring of the soaps, but I do add some extra ingredients to them as well. Oatmeal, Turmeric, and Rose Clay are some of those ingredients.

"Our brewery does not use gelatin or isinglass in clarifying our beer. We filter our beer with diatomaceous earth and silica gel, all of which is completely removed from the finished product. While we do not use animal-derived ingredients to make or filter our beers, we choose not to claim that our products are vegan friendly without a thorough and proper understanding of the lifestyle. It seems that there are different meanings for every vegan. We have found in our research that there are many definitions and we have not yet been able to find guidelines that would help us to know exactly what would need to be in place for our products to fall into this description."
